Haibin Zhu is a professor in the Institute of Chinese Historical Geography at Fudan University in China. He graduated from the Department of Anthropology in Sun Yet-sen University in 1990 and got his Master's degree (historical geography) from Fudan University in 1995. He received his first PhD (historical geography) from Fudan University in 1998 and a second PhD (Oriental history) from Osaka University in 2003. In the past 20 years, he has been engaged in the study of historical cultural geography about Zhejiang area. He has published two books and more than 30 papers, also translated two books from Japanese into Chinese. As a visiting scholar in CGA, he will research historical cultural geography and local society of Zhejiang area using GIS technology, creating maps and writing academic essays.
