ARCH3800-02 Introduction to ArcGIS for Architecture
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is an extraordinary analytical tool that has
unlocked the power of data as related to spatial relationships. This course
provides an overview of how it is being used in academic and professional work,
the various ways it can inform planning and policy, and methods by which it can
inform architectural and urban design. Using basic ArcGIS, students will learn
how to critically evaluate demographic, social, economic, and environmental
data and represent it effectively. Course material will include lectures, exercises
and a final project though which students may potentially investigate their thesis
project as it relates to GIS.
