Job Opening: Assistant Professor in GIS and Computational Social Science

Texas A&M University. The Department of Geography invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Geographic Information Science at the Assistant Professor level. We seek applicants who address questions through a computational social science approach. The successful applicant must be able to teach advanced courses in GIS/CyberGIS (e.g. WebGIS, Spatial Databases, and/or GIS Programming).

The Department of Geography has 24 faculty members with strengths in biogeography, climatology, geomorphology, human geography, human-environment relationships, and GIST (Geographic Information Science and Technology). We are based in the College of Geosciences.  At Texas A&M University, exciting opportunities for synergies exist with the Center for Geospatial Sciences, Applications and Technology (GEOSAT), the Texas Research Data Center, the Hazard Reduction and Recovery Center, and the Institute for Sustainable Communities. The Department of Geography is involved in a new campus-wide initiative focused on big data and data analytics.
