We are excited to announce the official date, Monday, June 17, 2019, for our second symposium at Harvard University entitled, “Dynamic Mapping of (Secondary) Cities Symposium II”. This symposium is focused on strategies for driving innovation and creating lasting global
urban projects that emphasize data generation and mapping.
What to expect from the Dynamic Mapping of (Secondary) Cities Symposium II?
To accomplish these goals we will focus on understanding the current state of urban-focused mapping initiatives, upcoming project developments, and the priorities of large-scale organizations to support these efforts. With this symposium, we will explore the application of urban-focused mapping initiatives.

About Us: The Secondary Cities Initiative
Secondary cities in the developing world are rapidly growing urban areas that are regional hubs for commerce, services, and governance. However, they often do not have adequate planning capacity for future development and growth. Since 2015, the Secondary Cities (2C) Initiative has promoted the local generation of geospatial data in under-mapped cities around the world. The 2C Initiative is one of many global urban projects with the aim to improve access to geospatial training, tools, and technology for urban planning and stakeholder participation. The 2C Initiative is a collaboration between the US Department of State and Colorado State University.
