SUMMARY:ArcGIS Enterprise for Geospatial Big Data and Data Science using NERC
DESCRIPTION:
	Lead Instructor: Haoyu Wang
Co-Instructors: Devika Kakkar

Mode: Full-day, on-site workshop with limited capacity (maximum of 20 participants).

	Topics Covered:

Introduction to NERC :An overview of NERC’s architecture, focusing on its specific support for high-performance computing in the context of geospatial data sciences.

Introduction to ArcGIS Enterprise: Detailed exploration of ArcGIS Enterprise capabilities when integrated with NERC, including the use of a portal, data store, and geoanalytical server to enhance geospatial processing and analysis features.

GIS Big Data Fundamentals: Discussion of the key concepts, challenges, and opportunities associated with managing and analyzing big geospatial datasets within ArcGIS Enterprise.

Data Analysis and Visualization: Techniques for employing ArcGIS tools to manipulate, analyze, and visualize geospatial big data, facilitating insightful data science driven decisions.

Case Studies: The following case study will be covered:
- Geocoding Big Datasets: We will learn to geocode big data using techniques for effective geocoding of big datasets, emphasizing workflow optimization within ArcGIS Enterprise.
- Calculating Shortest Driving Times Between Origin and Destination on big data: We will learn to apply ESRI's network analysis tools to determine the shortest driving routes between millions of Origins and destinations for improved network planning.

	Learning Objectives:
The workshop aims to train participants in leveraging ArcGIS Enterprise hosted on the New england research cloud (NERC) platform for efficient handling and analysis of GIS big data, focusing on data science applications.

	Target Audience:
This workshop is tailored for GIS users familiar with geospatial concepts and interested in applying advanced data science techniques to big data. Experience with ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online is advantageous. The course is ideal for those who are new to high-performance computing environments but have a strong background in GIS.

	Expected Prerequisites:
Please prepare a laptop in advance and download and install ArcGIS Pro. This will ensure that you are ready to actively participate in all hands-on sessions during the workshop.

	To Attend:
The workshop is free for individuals with a valid Harvard ID. Please click on the apply link below to register. A video version of the workshop will be made publicly available a few days later for those unable to attend in person.
HARVARD APPLY

	Contact:
For any questions regarding the workshop, please email haoyuwang@ fas.harvard.edu or kakkar@fas.harvard.edu.
