Jerold S. Kayden’s scholarship focuses on land use law and environmental law, public-private real estate development, public space in cities, and urban disaster resilience. His numerous books include *[Privately Owned Public Space: The New York City Experience](http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0471362573.html)*. As urban planner and lawyer, Professor Kayden has advised governments, non-governmental organizations, and private developers around the world. Since 1991, he has served as principal constitutional counsel to the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
