Yuan Liao is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Human Geography, Lund University, Sweden, supported by a three-year scholarship from Handelsbanken's Tore Browaldh Foundation. Her current research uses large-scale geolocation data and register data to understand how everyday mobility shapes socio-spatial segregation, transport accessibility and equity, and the circulation of knowledge in cities — and to test how urban and transport interventions could reshape them. Recent work measures experienced segregation among foreign-born minorities in Sweden and evaluates the social and spatial effects of Germany's nationwide transit fare cut. She previously held a Swedish Research Council International Postdoc Grant, hosted at the Social Complexity Lab, Technical University of Denmark, and earned her PhD in Energy and Environment from Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden in 2021. At the CGA, she develops reproducible pipelines for spatial inequality research with large-scale geolocation data.
