Dr. Wang is an Assistant Professor in the School of Computing and Information Science at the University of Maine, and will be joining the CGA as a research associate from October of 2025 through October of 2016. Dr. Wang will be collaborating with the CGA on two projects: Development of a novel Graph Neural Network (GNN) for school bus speed prediction, and Spatial Inequality and Bias Quantification for AI-Assisted Urban Studies and Policymaking.

Dr. Wang’s research covers a wide range of topics in the intersection of artificial intelligence and spatial computing, especially in the context of geographical information science (GIS). He is particularly focused on the information-theoretical foundations of GeoAI—how to appropriately represent, process, and understand geographical information within the modern AI framework.
