Call For Papers

We cordially invite you to submit original and high-quality manuscripts to the IJGIS special issue of "Real-time GIS for Smart Cities." This special issue aims to link GIS to smart cities in terms of real-time sensing. We look for research that reports new approaches considering the fusion of conventional data sources with real-time GIS data, as well as new space-time analytics to advance smart city research and implementations.

The Cartography and Geographic Information Society (CaGIS) and the University Consortium for Geographic Information Science (UCGIS) are pleased to announce a joint AutoCarto Conference and Symposium that will explore the Frontiers of Geospatial Data Science. We will consider connections between Geospatial Science and the burgeoning field of Data Science, seen in newly named academic departments and calls for funded research.

The National Science Foundation has recently funded a project to conceptualize a national Geospatial Software Institute (GSI) as a long-term hub of excellence in software infrastructure that can serve diverse research and education communities. A suite of community workshops will be convened to design the GSI.

Esri invites you to present a peer-reviewed paper in a series of GIScience research sessions that will be scheduled as part of the 2018 Esri International Users Conference, July 9-13, 2018, San Diego, California. Presentations in these special sessions will focus on cutting-edge research in GIScience and full papers will be included in a special issue of Transactions in GIS that will be published a few weeks ahead of the conference itself.

The 2nd International Symposium on Spatiotemporal Computing will be held August 7-9, 2017 at Harvard University. The deadline to submit an abstract is extended to March 20th.

GIScience 2016 continues a highly successful series of conferences started in 2000 that regularly brings together approximately 300 international participants from academia, industry, and government organizations to discuss and advance the state-of-the-art in Geographic Information Science. The conference consists of two refereed paper tracks: full papers (due Feburary 10, 2016)  and extended abstracts (due May 4, 2016).

The Health and Medical Geography Specialty Group (HMGSG) of AAG invites current undergraduate and graduate students to submit their work to the specialty group's annual Peter Gould Student Paper Competition. The competition is meant to promote written scholarship by students across the field. A $250 prize will be awarded in each of two categories: 1) undergraduate students, and 2) graduate students (Master’s and Doctoral).
