Chris Winship is a leading sociologist who focuses on statistical and methodological issues including the analysis of qualitative dependent variables, selection bias, and counterfactual causal analysis. He is the co-founder and co-director of the Boston Area Research Initiative (BARI) which has a number of goals, including the creation of two-way “data pipelines” and mapping tools to give researchers easier access to public data, and to provide public officials with easier access to academic analyses of the data.  Chris has been instrumental in BARI’s work to create the set of current and historic datasets stored in BostonMap and other maps BARI has created.  Professor Winship is a member of the CGA Faculty Steering Committee.
