Sampath Rapuri is currently a high school senior at St. Mark’s School of Texas in Dallas, Texas. His academic interests include the intersection of healthcare and computer science, bioengineering, and the epidemiological applications of GIS. Reflecting his many interests, Sampath has worked on research projects across a wide variety of areas including but not limited to studying the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health in lower-middle-income countries, creating artificial intelligence solutions to address laterality mislabeling in radiographs, and developing software for an autonomous microscope with researchers at the Department of State’s Cities’ COVID Mapping and Mitigation program and at  UT Southwestern Medical Center’s radiology department and microscopy innovation lab, respectively. Apart from his research interests, Sampath enjoys competing in the United States Biology Olympiad (USABO) and Brain Bee competitions where he placed in the top 50 out of more than 5000 people and tied for fourth nationally, respectively.
