Zifu Wang, Ph.D., received his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from George Mason University in 2017. He began working at the NSF Spatiotemporal Innovation Center in 2016 under the mentorship of Dr. Chaowei Yang and continued his involvement through the completion of his doctoral studies in 2025.
In 2020, he began his Ph.D. in Earth Systems and Geoinformation Sciences at George Mason University, where he developed expertise at the intersection of geospatial technologies and artificial intelligence. His dissertation focuses on leveraging large language models (LLMs) to automate the extraction, classification, and geovisualization of location-based information from unstructured text sources. His research contributes to advancing the use of GeoAI in humanitarian response, conflict monitoring, and illicit trade analysis.
