Research Areas
The CGA’s research spans a range topics at the intersection of geography, data science, and social impact.
For example, our work in Health Geography and Spatial Health Analytics investigates how location influences health outcomes, focusing on accessibility to care, neighborhood effects, telehealth, and environmental determinants.
The CGA's Spatial AI and Data Science work has made advances in geospatial modeling, machine learning, and data infrastructure development to improve the analysis of spatial patterns and to make for more efficient tool development to improve the accuracy of geospatial computation and with it, geography-based understanding.
Our Spatial Inequality research has examined disparities in access, opportunity, and exposure, by applying spatial analysis to questions of health equity, infrastructure, and environmental justice.
Complementing these domains, our Spatial Data Infrastructure work to develop platforms, workflows, and cloud-based systems, are enabling large-scale spatial analysis, open science, and reproducible research across disciplines.
Together, these research areas reflect CGA’s breadth—from methodological innovation to applied studies oriented toward addressing societal challenges.
