Andrea Nasuto
Andrea Nasuto is a PhD candidate in Geographic Data Science at the University of Liverpool and a Fellow at the Institute for Quantitative Social Science (IQSS) and Center for Geographic Analysis (CGA) at Harvard University. His research bridges computational social science, geospatial modeling, and artificial intelligence to map and understand human behaviors—from immigration sentiment and mobility patterns to loneliness and housing market dynamics. Andrea's PhD research focuses on understanding immigration sentiment both online and offline by leveraging social media data, large language models, geospatial modeling, and network science. He investigates how immigration sentiment spreads online, its geographical distribution, and the socio-economic and cultural variables associated with it. He has been involved in multiple projects on human mobility in collaboration with various UN agencies, including analyzing migrant displacement and war events during the Ukrainian conflict, examining human mobility during COVID-19 in Latin America, and assessing the impacts of the 2020 Beirut explosion. Andrea has also worked as a data scientist and research associate on projects estimating loneliness and urban mobility among the aging population in the UK, as well as modeling the impact of climate change on house prices in coastal areas.
