Kirk came to Harvard in 2011 as a visiting scholar. His core task with the CGA is to integrate new spatial reasoning curricula into existing Harvard courses. Prior to joining the CGA he was an assistant professor of Geography at Michigan State University. He has several years of teaching experience focusing on Geography, GIS, Cartography, and Data Visualization. Kirk earned his Ph.D. in Geography from UC-Santa Barbara in 2007. His research interests include both cognitive aspects of GIScience and the applied integration of GIS, urban geography, and public health.
