Robert Sampson is a leading sociologist whose research and teaching cover a variety of areas including crime, disorder, the life course, neighborhood effects, civic engagement, inequality, "ecometrics," and the social structure of the city. Professor Sampson is co-founder and co-director of the Boston Area Research Initiative (BARI), a program that promotes original urban research on the cutting edge of social science and public policy, and forge mutually beneficial relationships among the region's scholars, policymakers, practitioners and civic leaders. His research generated contemporary and historic datasets on ChicagoMap, BostonMap, as well as other maps created by BARI. Professor Sampson is a member of the CGA Faculty Steering Committee.
