Smruti is an MS (GIS) student at Clark University, Worcester, MA, and also a Graduate Research Assistant at Clark Labs, Clark University. With a degree in Civil Engineering, she has varied experience in the applications of remote sensing and GIS, such as estimation of impervious areas in an urban environment using hyperspectral remote sensing in India to impact assessment of a crude oil pipeline between Uganda and Tanzania. Her current research at Clark Labs involves baseline mapping of aquaculture and coastal habitats in South-East Asia. At CGA she will work on geospatial data processing, spatial and geo-statistical analysis, cartographic visualization and geoprocessing automation. Application fields may include social sciences and humanities, public health, environmental science, urban studies and infrastructure engineering.
