Dr. Xue Liu joined the Center for Geographic Analysis (CGA) at Harvard in 2019. He came from the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) at Columbia University. Xue is an IEEE Senior Member with extensive experience in remote sensing, Geographic Information System (GIS), and their applications in environmental sciences, agriculture, urban hazards and sustainability. He has published over 40 papers and worked on many projects funded by NASA, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and other organizations. Xue has a Ph.D. in remote sensing from Wuhan University and previously worked in Tsinghua University and University of California, Davis. He taught remote sensing and GIS in the Environmental Data Analysis graduate course in Columbia University.
