Esri Business Analyst Data
Esri Business Analyst Data Package for the United Stated is accessible to Harvard affiliates only. The CGA has Esri Business Analyst Data packages published from 2006 to the current year, which includes Demographic Data, Business Locations, Major Shopping Centers, Consumer Spending, Segmentation Data, and Street Data. Log into https://harvard-cga.maps.arcgis.com and check to see whether your account has Business Analyst extension associated with it. Go to Members and find your account. At far right click three dots and select “Add on Licenses” to see whether you have Business Analyst tied to your account. If you don’t have it, please write to CGA using this form and ask to have it added.
If you have Business Analyst associated with your Esri account, you can access Business Analyst data in the AGOL cloud by default.
If you have needs that require a local copy of Business Analyst data, you will need to license the dataset to your Pro instance and then point to the local copy of the data which is available in the HMDC computer lab in CGIS Knafel K026 (T:\Business_Analyst_20xx). The data may be copied to a local or network hard drive, used in the lab, or mapped using the path \\fas-depts.ad.fas.harvard.edu\cgis\arcgis (it requires fas_domain account login).
Here are instructions for licensing and connecting to this data:
- In ArcGIS Pro, go to Project->Licensing->Business Analyst\Manage Your Data Licensing. Click Add and point to the license file at T:\Business_Analyst\Business_Analyst_2025\ESRI_BA_2025_US_Data_Update (where T is mapped to \\fas-depts.ad.fas.harvard.edu\cgis\).
- Select 536-BA-USA-2025-NAT-MPI-06_30_26.sdlic as the license file.
- Click Open, then Save.
- In Pro, go to Project->Package->Options->Business Analyst.
- Choose add dataset and point to T:\Business_Analyst\Business_Analyst_2025\ESRI_BA_2025_US_Data_Update\dataset_description.xml.
- Click Open, then save.
- Restart ArcGIS Pro.
- In Pro go to Analysis->Business Analys->Change data source. You can now choose between Business Analyst on the Harvard-CGA AGOL portal and a copy of business analyst data on the T drive.
If you have a grant and need CGA staff to provide service in extracting specific data from Esri Business data sets, please fill out the request form below, and choose "Require Access to: Esri Business Analyst Data" from the picklist. Please specify the data types and years in the Additional message box.
